PHOEBE LEE

Phoebe Lee (b.1997, Singapore) graduated with a diploma in Fine Art at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and is currently taking her BA(Hons) in Fine Arts at LASALLE College of the Arts . She was awarded the 2017- Arts Bursary and MOE Bursary 2018/2019. She also intended at The 8th Floor Creative Space and is now an instructor and technician at am I addicted. In order to widen her knowledge in arts and culture, she has gone for cultural exchange programmes in Lao and Philippines. 
In her practice, she uses clay as her main medium as it is able to manifest different forms. Her works are often for the purpose of the function rather than the appearance. 

Phoebe Lee is a craftsman who mainly works with clay. By taking daily life as subject matter while commenting on the everyday aesthetic. Her works are characterised by the use of everyday objects in an atmosphere in which recognition plays an important role. By focusing on techniques, she also tries to develop forms that do not follow logical criteria, but are based on subjective associations and formal parallels, which incite the viewer to make new personal associations. Her works manifests from a distinct style and tactile nature. This is of great importance and bears witness to great craftsmanship. By choosing mainly formal solutions, she considers making art a craft which is executed using clear formal rules.

Phoebe currently resides and practices in Singapore.
